No And The Maybes - Mouth (2008)

So can you tell me where your name's from?
Our name has something to do with the way we work and perceive music in general. We usually start up saying "No" to a lot of the music we stumble upon i our every day life. However, this scepticism is from time to time transformed into a "Maybe" (..and sometimes even a "Yes"!). We are not easy to please musically, but we are pretty faithful towards the music we've accepted as good.

What are your influences?
Your second question is a tricky one (despite it's popularity). It's a hard one to answer without ending up in some sort of constraining category. We tend to describe our musical style a mix between 60's tambourine pop and 80's synth music - and we've coined the term "Challenging Chamber Pop" as a three-word description of the genre. Having said that we are big fans of The Knife, The Shins and El Perro Del Mar.

What is your music about?
Our project is about creating the music we are missing - in other words making good music that haven't been heard before. Our music is about trying to mediate between the musical styles and input that we care about.

There are many great bands from Scandinavia nowadays. Can you explain why?
Well, we agree that Sweeden produces a lot of interesting names - and perhaps some of that succes have started to rub of on Denmark and Norway? Some of the explanation could be ascribed to the socio-economical conditions in Scandinavia, which often produce a collective optimism and a willingness to take chances from within the cultural domains. On the other hand, great music have also been produced under poor conditions. So ...?

Are you coming to France for a gig?
Haven't planned anything in France just yet. But if anybody knows a good festival or something? The closest thing to France is two festivals in Luxembourg. Multizik in August and Sonic Visions in November. Hope to see you there!
