David Bowie est un homme de bon goût. Il n'y a qu'à jeter une oreille à sa musicographie pour s'en convaincre.
Désormais, le vairon a décidé de promouvoir des artistes talentueux grâce à son site Internet, BowieArt qui recense quelques oeuvres contemporaines diverses qui font plaisir à la rétine.

Au temps pour moi

Il est impossible de savoir précisément quand et comment est apparue l’expression familière au temps pour moi, issue du langage militaire, où "au temps !" se dit pour commander la reprise d’un mouvement depuis le début ("au temps pour les crosses", etc.). De ce sens de C’est à reprendre, on a pu glisser à l’emploi figuré. On dit Au temps pour moi pour admettre son erreur — et concéder que l’on va reprendre ou reconsidérer les choses depuis leur début.

L’origine de cette expression n’étant plus comprise, la graphie "Autant pour moi" est courante aujourd’hui, mais rien ne la justifie.

23 people get away from their 'real life' to a writers retreat where they can get rid of all distractions that prevent them from writing a masterpiece. They tell stories to each other as they go along. .. The stories here are all disgusting but so hilarious!
Very entertaining.

Radical Face - Glory (Ghost, 2007)

Ce titre commence avec un faux air de Pont de la Rivière Kwai. Et puis s'envole dans un virée pop touché par un doux lyrisme qui nous donne le sourire et une grande joie intérieure.

Norman McLaren est un Anglais qui a eu une grande importance sur le cinéma d'animation mais le limiter à ce genre serait plus que réducteur. Cinéaste expérimentateur, il a démocratisé la pixilation avec le court-métrage Neighbours, qui lui vaudra un Oscar.

Jenifer - Bruce Jones (1974)

Que-ce que vous voulez faire avec cette fille?

'Jenifer' is a 10 page comic story, written by a comic writer Bruce Jones in 1974, about a female monster with deformed face in constrast to an attractive body, who eats intestines of various living things (from a cat to a teen age boy) and seduces men. How scary!

It is kind of interesting to see here the reversed version (sort of) of 'the Beauty and the Beast'.

Orientalism - Edward Said

Edward Said started a project 'anti-Orientalism' in this book published in 1979.
Simply put, his project is a rejection of whatever written, told, taught about the non-Western culture/countries by Western scholars and writers.
'A rejection of Orientalism entails a rejection of biological generalizations, cultural constructions, and racial and religious prejudices.'

This is a very important, influential book but it is sad to say that after more than 20 years of its publication, not much has been changed as far as his project goes..
